For more than a decade I have been engaging in the traditional "Canadian Craft" of finger weaving as a venue to bring early Canadian History to life in a fun way, for interested people of all ages, to enhance the understanding and appreciation for indigenous cultures and to showcase that at our core we are all ONE, we are all RELATED.
In other words, I see this work as a creative approach to more positive relationships among people of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Finger weaving was a technique used by some Indeginous People of the Eastern Woodlands, as well as the early French Canadians and Metis. Most commonly artisans created sashes, belts and garters (to tie up the leggins), hatbands or headbands. Weaving materials, designs and colours varied, depending on availability and intended use. Most items were created to serve as parts of everyday attire - work clothes of the voyageurs -; but particularly beautiful creations were used for special occassions and ceremonial purposes.
I have been offering workshops in basic and advanced finger weaving, at schools, cultural events  (indoor and outdoor), and art galleries, for groups as well as individuals.
I prefer to use crochet (medium fine!) or craft cotton in bold colours such as red, blue, white, black, yellow and green.

I don't have a studio and have to travel to the workshop locations. My yarn supply is currently very low, and since I am on a fixed pension income, I need funding to help me  with the purchase of craft materials, paper and ink for handouts and to cover travel costs.

Thank you for your support.
