George is  a 42 year old man (who just celebrated his birthday) diagnosed  with Freidrich's  Ataxia. The condition is  a rare inherited disease that causes nervous system damage . It  is a  debilitating, life- shortening, degenerative type of Muscular Dystrophy.

George is rapidly losing the ability to clearly communicate verbally   but  before his  verbal skills began to break down,  he expressed a wish:  To be able to directly donate enough money to MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) in order to send a child with the condition  to the MDA  summer camp program for  a week.  George wants the child to be able to experience the same kind of  fun & friendships that he had growing up. It is a chance for a child with MD to interact with other children who have MD in a safe environment.

Kids at MDA summer camp engage in  a variety of activities  such as swimming, boating, fishing, horseback riding, karaoke, dances, talent shows, etc. The activities are adapted for  kids with muscle disease so there are no barriers. Everyone can participate!

The Muscular Dystrophy Association says the  cost  for a week of summer camp is  $800.   Since his family cannot afford to pay that full amount,   the hope is that by reaching out to friends, family, and  other communities,  George's  wish can become a reality.

100% of the funds received will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association using George's name &  if the goal of $800 is met,  The Muscular Dystrophy Association has agreed to present George with a letter thanking him for his donation and letting him know that he is responsible for  sending a child to camp.

It is a painful reality for  George's family & people who know him  that this sweet smiling man is running out of time here on earth.  He is in Hospice Care..and anyone who has ever cared for a family member with failing health knows that Hospice Care means  that person is in the final stage of their life.

Currently ,  he spends almost all of  his time in bed  and it is a struggle for  the  nurses to try and keep him awake during the day.   They do this because if he sleeps during the day, then he does not  sleep at all during the night..His sleep at night is already very limited, even with medicine to try and control the pain. George  wakes up hourly in pain & discomfort.  This has resulted in severe fatigue that causes  him to  actually fall asleep while eating . Even when he still has food in his mouth.   He has lost so much weight that the outline of pacemaker in his chest is visible.

Please help George fulfill his wish and make a difference not only in his life,  but also in the life of a child with Muscular Dystrophy.  the family now only needs $55 to complete the goal & send a child to camp..

Every donation helps!
