Help J.K. achieve his goal.
At 93 years old J.K. is a World War II veteran who served his country as an MP stationed in India. He has survived multiple operations to fuse ruptured discs in his back and prostate cancer which was discovered after a mild stroke in 1996. He has said his goal was to live to see 100 but over the past year his health has worsened and now hopes to see 95 which is how long his mother lived. With what is still described as a heart of a 40 year old he could very well see his century pass with your help.
After a forth spine operation in February 2012, J.K. had been able to walk and move around just fine, even able to push a lawnmower and play with his great grand-children. In June of 2013 nerve damage relating to his spine problem caused him to lose feeling in his right foot resulting in a fall, and another trip to the hospital for twenty-plus stitches and confined to a wheel chair. J.K. was being tested in prelude to another spine operation so he could walk again when other problems arose.
J.K. almost didn’t live past November 11th 2013. That morning he was rushed to the E.R. unit in dire condition with septic infection resulting from a super pubic catheter he has lived with since cancer treatment in the late 90’s. J.K. survived thanks in part to his strong heart and discharged to a nursing home for physical rehabilitation but instead of getting better things turned worse.
J.K. had multiple falls and trips to the E.R. in just a month’s time. After saying he was too tired to come home for Christmas, the day after when calls went unanswered his family went to check on him and found him unresponsive. It took many attempts to wake him and once the paramedics arrived he became combative. Back at the E.R. test were run and analysis made it was determined he had a flair-up of dementia since the septic infection. Released again, this time J.K. came directly home from the hospital where he could be better cared for. Since J.K. has had good and bad days being looked after by family and home health professionals.
J.K.’s service to his country has earned coverage for most medical bills but many are not. Uncovered costs have risen to the point financial and physical family support is maxed and J.K. is being threatened with garnishment of his main means of income, Social Security.
Can you help this veteran live to see 95 and maybe past 100? Any support is gratefully appreciated.
