Douglas came into animal control in August 2013. He was called in as a vicious dog, chasing people, and trying to attack them. He was not much different at animal control. Some of the staff and volunteers saw past his behavior, and got to know the real Douglas. He puts on a tough front, but once he trusts you he is the loving dog everyone would want. Despite this no one would help Douglas, and he was set to be euthanized. A volunteer saved his life by taking him in, but he cannot be rehomed through the shelter. She was given a deadline to find him a rescue, or he would have to be returned and euthanized.

He has been great with his temporary family, but is still not great with strangers. He is nippy around new people. His foster home had him assessed by a behaviorist, and he was recommended to complete a 2 week training. The training costs $600 and will help him find a home. There is a rescue willing to take Douglas and help responsibly find him a new home, but he needs complete training first. He is a healthy young dog, just over a year and could live a happy, healthy life with your help. Without it his foster will be forced to required to return him to the shelter.
