Update on Mojo: This poor boy has had a far worse life than we realised. Upon further examination at the clinic the x-rays have shown that he has arthritis in his front right leg and his hind leg has been fractured previously along the femur and has healed without treatment causing his kneecap to twist sideways, this poor dog only has 1 leg working properly!
Therefore it has been decided that the best course of action is to make and fit a prosthesis for his missing front left leg to allow him the chance of walking properly and to give him the chance of living as normal a life as possible. If the leg was removed and the arthritis in the right leg then gets worse, which it will over time, there will be no going back and he will have no front legs that work in the future. There is also a possibility that he will need surgery on his hind leg to re-align the kneecap so that his leg is straight and he is pain free. He is currently at the clinic under-going full assessment.
The cost for his prosthesis plus the operation that is needed to improve the ‘stump’ so that it is well fitting and comfortable plus the operation to re-align the kneecap on his hind leg will be approximately £545 – whilst this is a lot of money, it is more than worthwhile to prevent Mojo from becoming a paraplegic in the future.
Please can you help us to fund these operations and to get Mojo his new leg so that he can walk again?
