Hi. My name is Judy Ralston.
I am the very proud mother of a beautiful, courageous and inspiring 15 year old girl.
Her name is Rachael Ralston. Many of you will know her or know of her already but for those who don't, Rachael suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a very debilitating connective tissue disorder that causes her joints to dislocate up to 20 times a day.
Many of you would have read Rachael's story in the Arthritis Today Magazine (http://www.arthritiswa.org.au/useruploads/files/arf2082-arthritis-magazine-spring-_2012-web_-_copy.pdf) or read her article in the Therapy Focus Newsletter (http://therapyfocus.org.au/news/rachael-speaks-out.aspx), seen her on Channel 10 News (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0Dwy7bRXc4&feature=share) or heard her on Howard Sattlers program on 6PR trying to bring awareness of EDS to help all sufferers have a better quality of life. Rachael also spends a lot of time helping people on the various EDS websites. Rachael is a very courageous young lady. She never complains or asks for anything for herself. What most people don't know is that Rachael has a dream. Her dream is to be able to own a fold-able mobility scooter so that she can be independent and do things such as go to the shops on her own. Over the years Rachael's hip joints have gotten very weak making it impossible to walk very far. Up until a year ago Rachael was able to get around independently by using a wheelchair but that has become impossible because her shoulders dislocate turning the wheels so somebody has to be there to push her all the time. This makes it difficult to even come to the shops with me because I can't push her and a trolley as well. It is hard for me to ask for help but I am doing it for Rachael. I would love to be able to buy it for her but ongoing medical expenses (medications, doctors bills, physio appointments etc) and the cost of medical aids (wheelchair, special mattress, splints, bandages etc) over the years have left my bank balance very low.
I am hoping that you can all help me make Rachael's dream come true. If everyone that Rachael has helped or inspired donated a small amount each it would be so greatly appreciated.
My aim is to raise $3000 dollars for a fold-able scooter and to cover fees.
With a scooter Rachael would be able to come out with me as well as be independent and able to experience life without relying on other to push her. Rachael deserves our help.

Thank you to each and every one of you,
