Bridget Spencer hasn't added a story.

Hi everyone.........I am asking for your help. Brittany Sue is set to come home, hopefully in February. She is struggling with all of the money she needs to come up with to fly her husband, Kyle, home and her dog, Apollo. They also have a cat named Simba, who is able to fly with them on the plane, but dogs cannot. I know this sounds strange, but Simba the cat, flew to Korea with Kyle after being vet and USDA certified, so he is more of a simple task to get home, I guess because he is considered an American Feline. Brittany Sue planned on being in Korea until January of 2012, but has recently been informed that she will be heading back to a new duty station here in the states by February of 2011. She has also found out that she has many hoops to jump through to get Apollo home, as well as just over $2200 for Apollo to fly home. I have attached pictures. I would like to raise money for Brittany Sue to be able to bring her dog home from Korea in February. I know we are all facing difficult financial times and our soldiers bear no difference. Brittany Sue is still a private (PFC) and making just near a minimum wage salary; however the military pays for housing. If you are able to help me raise the money, please respond by clicking on the "GIVE" button. It will direct you to the secure site of PayPal to donate money. I can never show enough appreciation to those who have helped me in the past or to those who may help my daughter while she is serving this beautiful country. Just know I love you all. Thank you for reading. Please read the story of Brittany Sue's story of Apollo and the love she has for him below: "I originally went to the Yongsan Vet Clinic to enroll my husband’s cat, Simba, as is required by the military. But no true animal lover (especially one who misses the comfort of having a dog and having lost my dog Nala I grew up with this past summer while I was in Korea) is going to walk away when they hear dogs barking in the back. I told myself I was only going to look. They had a couple of dogs, all given up by other people or strays, all of which were smaller then our cat. I was turning to leave when I saw a cocker spaniel the clinic had been calling "Jerry". He had purple bandages completely covering his back legs. I grabbed one of the privates who worked there and asked what the bandages were for, reminding her that I was a medic who worked in the ER...and I didn’t want her to sugar coat or slow talk me. She told me, "He was caught in some type of trap at a dog farm and pulled free. He has abrasions on 80% of his legs and lacerations on the entirety of all four paws. When they brought him in, he wasn’t even moving, and was emaciated." Now for those who dont get the medical jargon...he was badly cut up and starving. I went into his cage and almost cried when he cowered away from me. "Why do you call him Jerry?" I asked, still attempting to show him I meant him no harm. "He’s 6 years old or so...Jerry is short for geriatric, dogs that are of an older age never get adopted here." And she walked away. So obviously...what did I do? I came back every day for 3 weeks to play with him, walk him, and just flat out show him the love he hadn't been getting his whole life. He warmed up to me eventually, and I fell in love with him. I couldn't fathom NOT taking him home with me. So every day I told the front desk "Don't let anyone take my dog...when he’s ready to be adopted call me..right away." And they did. I came in ready and willing to show him a real loving home instead of a cage or a trap. The first couple of weeks were rocky. He would pee in the house when we left, and when we bought him a kennel he would scratch until his nails broke. He was afraid that every time we walked through the door, we wouldn't come back. With medication and training..he’s doing much better. I worry; dogs like him get bounced from home to home. He has anxiety and separation problems (he barks when we go to the bathroom, because there is a door separating you from him). He howls and whines when you leave, and has a tendency to pee. He’s getting old as well. He can’t hear unless we yell for him and the vet has told me he will go blind in another year or two. I can’t leave him. I can’t guarantee someone will look past his flaws and see the dog I see and love so much. Who else will come home and clean up after him, knowing you can’t yell at him. Who else will teach this old dog new tricks (he’s working on "lay" and "fetch" still). I named him Apollo because in Greek mythology, Apollo is the GOD OF HEALING. He has a lot more healing to do but in order for me to bring him back to the states with me in January, I must pay just over $2200. I am trying to save my money but I already have to buy my husband’s plane ticket as well to move him back home as we are on a non-command sponsored family."
