Dearest Friends
I come to you today in the most difficult situation we have faced in a while. We are in desperate need of help, to get us back on our feet!
There are a couple of reasons we find ourselves in this situation. First and foremost, Social Security Disability is NOT a living wage. If my benefit amount were doubled, it would still be a struggle, unless the SNAP amount was also increased, far more than double. This is the sad part of my story that will never change, and why I have to do so much fundraising.
The reason I have let it get away from me at this moment is that if I do not have enough, and cannot do fundraising, I use my credit card. Earlier this year, in the Spring, I tried to start a fundraiser multiple times, just to pull it, because friends needed help more than I did. I didn't want to take away help from them!
I'm just not going to be able to do that anymore. During that time, I used my card to survive, and now, it is so close to it's limit, I cannot use it. So we are depending on my meager little check only, and a good chunk of that goes toward bills, before I can do anything else.
Ace, Alma and I are all doing well, but we are dirt poor! We live below the poverty level, and if an emergency comes up, it would be deal with the emergency, or buy food, not both! Like Ace's ear issue, last month. Ace will always come first, as will Alma! Thankfully, she is young!
So we are in great need of raising money just to help us survive, on a day to day basis!
We are very blessed to have each other, and our health. We have a home, a car, and an income, just not much of an income.
I normally receive a Kroger Card from my uncle on the first of the month, every month, and that takes care of 1 week of groceries for us. It has not come, this month. So that makes it even harder.
I have 3 gift certificates at Allivet, so I thought I was good to get what my dogs need in the way of food and supplements, but those are not working. Alma needs food, NOW! Ace is good for at least a week.
No "extra" bills this month, THANK GOD, but our regular bills take the majority of my check. We have those extra bills coming in September, October and potentially, November. By extra I mean, they don't come every month. Some come once a year, some come twice a year. For this reason, I have enabled recurring donations on this fundraiser, if you wish to help us more than once.
So here is my current situation. By the time I pay my remaining bills for August, I will have $285 left of my check. That is supposed to get my groceries for 4 weeks, and get what my dogs need. I don't think so! That amount will cover groceries for 1 week, and leave me about $115.
Without your help, what happens to us?
Utility Bills are roughly $400 a month, until winter, then the electric bill doubles and triples. Credit Card bill runs anywhere from $500 to $700, depending on how close to my limit I let it get. Groceries are roughly $170 a week, but are more the week I get my meat.
Autoships for the Dogs are $64.00 for their flea and tick, Ace's Prescription Food is $129.36, Alma's food is $49.99, Ace's Glycoflex is $44.81, His Spine and Disc is $19.07 and his Welactin is $23.74. FortaFlora for both is $76.94. Ace's Vitamins are $47.15. That is not counting their treats. Usually, bones are the only treats I have to buy every month. Then their is Ace's prescription for Galliprant I have to get for him every month. It has gone up, and is now $100 even.
All of the above is a normal month for me, so I hope you can see why I panic and beg for help.
Now, looking at the future, the rest of this year. September brings my bill for my Homeowner's Insurance. Last year it was just over, $1000. Both dogs have a groom appt in September and December. $76 per dog, per groom, October brings Auto Insurance, $200 and November brings Property Taxes, $500. I am going to apply for an exemption, but do not know if I will get it. I am also going to apply for help with my electric bill through Bell-Whitley for Summer, and again for Fall, if they offer it. It usually covers 1 month, and partially a second month.
There is no help for Winter Electric Bills, unless you have a disconnect.
As for last year's medical bills that I applied for a spend down last December, I still have no answer from them, either way. It is my plan to go in this week, and see what I can find out. Two providers have already turned me over for collection, and I am not allowed to talk to them to tell them I applied for a spend down. If they decline me, I can , and will appeal.
I know a lot of my story is boring, and I pray you read through it. There is no way to know the seriousness of my situation, unless you live through it. So I ask you to close your eyes and imagine that all you have to live on is your income alone. All you get for your income is $1341 a month. With that, you have to pay all of your utility bills, credit card bills, buy groceries for a month, and supplies for your pets, if you have them. Could you do it? Would you want to give up your pets, because you are poor? Would you want to sell your valuables to raise money for yourself? Well, that is my life.
I can never repay the people who help me, I wish I could. But I can, and do pray God's blessings on those who help me, and I know those prayers will be answered, because Jesus taught us to do for those who cannot do anything for us in return! Please, Please, help me if you can!

And even though I already paid that credit card, I desperately need donations to help me pay it down a LOT more. But the most pressing items are groceries, and my dogs.
