Many of you are aware of the unfortunate geopolitical conflict here in Ukraine, but many of you are unaware of the severity of the situation for the LGBT community of Ukraine. Sadly in this day and age there are still many folk out there whom refuse to accept members of the LGBT community as valid members of society and this is not different in times of war. 

I am a councilor and I have 12 students whom are apart of the LGBT community and due to this reason, we have been completely forgotten about and bus drivers have been refusing to evacuate us from an active war zone where we are. 

Currently in Ukraine, males from the ages of 18 - 60 years are unable to leave the country and must sign up for the draft. Aside from a few homophobic bus drivers flat out refusing us, there are also bus drivers with a little bit of a heart who are refusing us because we have “male students” even though 2 of which are transgender but homophobic laws classify them as male. 
the other “male students”, if drafted into the war will not have a chance of survival if captured by Russians or used as prisoners of war, because Russians are extremely homophobic. 

the lives of my students, and myself are at stake.

we are raising money to “overpay” a bus driver who will agree to evacuate the group across Ukraine to the border of Slovakia, then we will cross on foot into Slovakia, and then take another bus to Berlin where we will need accommodations, food, medications such as hormonal treatment for some students, for the duration of the war.
