Please help Buda and his family
- The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, but for some, especially for people who depend on tourism the pandemic means a loss in income and ability to pay for the most basic necessities like food.
- While traveling in Asia for 33 continuous months my girlfriend and I happened to come across a very special place, with very special people. This place is called Lemukih, a small village in the north of Bali, Indonesia. Lemukih is not on the Bali tourist map, so it gets very few visitors, which is one of the things that makes it such a magical place. But what really makes it special is its people, filled with love and hospitality, who are by far the most pristine and welcoming amongst all the people we met traveling throughout Asia.
- Lemukih is also the home of Buda and his lovely family of 6, who when we first met in 2017, had only begun running his tiny homestay with just one simple bungalow. Getting to know Buda and his family and staying in such breathtaking surroundings was such a life changing experience for us that during the course of the following two and a half years we kept going back, four more times in total. During this time Buda had managed to build two more bungalows and more and more people were beginning to come, as the word of this amazing hidden gem began to spread. We helped Buda place his listings on Airbnb and another traveler wrote about his amazing experience at Buda's Homestay on a popular German blog, and slowly his small business began to provide enough for him to support his family.
- Since Buda opened his homestay in 2017 and the first tourists started to come to Lemukih, a few more small homestays opened in the area. It was Buda, who by opening his small homestay and by being so genuinely nice to all his visitors, who consequently made the whole community thrive.
- With the COVID-19 outbreak and the complete lockdown of Bali by the authorities, Buda, like many others, found himself without any income and it happened practically overnight. With six mouths to feed, he and his wife found themselves in a horrific situation, where savings do not suffice any more even for the most basic necessities like rice and vegetables. Most likely there will be no tourists in Lemukih until the end of this year, which means Buda will be without any income for another 7 months.
- If Buda and his family do not get our help soon he and his family might face malnutrition or even starvation. By raising some money with this campaign we will provide enough money for food, medicine and other basic necessities which will last Buda at least until the end of this year.
