Hello, I am Abbie, I am 24 years old and I live with a rare multisystemic, genetic invisible disease called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It is progressive and can slowly start to affect the internal organs as well as causing frequent dislocations and hypermobile and painful joints. Just a few years ago, I was still running around the park with my nieces and nephews, trampoling 3 times a week and entering prestigious singing competitions; slowly developing an exciting future for myself. Now I am currently paralysed in my legs, cannot eat and will soon be fed via a tube, spend time in a hospice recieving respite and have carers in twice a day. I am currently also bed bound or confined to my wheelchair - BUT NOT FOREVER! :)

During a period of stability in 2013, I entered the prestigious national singing competition; OPEN MIC UK and met one of the judges, in the queue at starbucks just before I was about to perform! This absolute gift from God, runs a record company, Big Help Management.and has produced some sensational young artists who are now supporting BGT stars on their UK national tours and releasing songs onto ITunes everyday! He recognised something in me that others have failed to see and just a few months later The Invisible Friends were formed. It is an absolute honour to be recieveing such heart warming support  from such a highly respected bussiness within the music industry!

We are a Derbyshire based vocal group made up of young people who are all faced with the challenge of life with an Invisible Illness. Our mission is to raise awareess of these conditions nationwide, helping both medical professionas and members of society to become more knowledgeable and aware of how much of an impact a disability that cannot be seen can really have on both the young person and their families. We also act as a support group, offering an escape from "The Invisible World", meeting new friends who really do understand and using the power of singing to make a difference and SAVE SOME LIVES.

All money recieved helps us to continue on our mission by allowing us to continue to afford the running costs of the group, travel expensers to and from events and enabling us to start slowly developing and setting up more groups in different parts of the country. Each year, we also send a percentage of any donations gratefully recieved to a relevant charity and throught 2015/2016, we will be supporting Ehlers-Danlos Support UK as this condition is taking away too many lives of babies, children and young people simply to soon. Every PENNY we can send to them and every PERSON made aware of the condition, means that we will be one step closer to finding that cure and saving that life.
