I was a police officer for 15 years. I was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in 2012 in Johnson County Indiana. Recently I discovered an article in the Indianapolis Star about a class-action law suit being filed against several judges and public defenders. After reading the article it was like reliving a nightmare. The exact same things being alleged by the individuals filing the law suit were the exact same things I experienced. Even though I was innocent of the crimes I was charged with, I could get no help from the court, public defender or anyone. I wrote every week some agency requesting help but no one would intervene. I asked my attorney to file motions but he would do nothing. I even asked the judge to give me different counsel but he refused. They kept me for a year and a week before trial offered me a plea bargain of 5 do 2 1/2 years. If I didn't take it I was looking at 22 years. Because no one would help me and the fact that I had already done one year I felt I was forced to take the plea. This totally destroyed my life. My friends and family all turned their backs on me. After reading the story in the paper I felt a small hope that I might be helped and my name be cleared. I am currently on parole and working part-time at Wheeler Mission. I contacted the attorney handling the case and he wants $1000.00 to look at my case and would apply that amount to the $10,000.00 he would want to go to court to clear me on a post conviction relief. The only thing that has come out of this situation positive is that I have developed a relationship with Christ and found out who my true friends are. I am asking for help to clear my name of crimes that I am not guilty of. I was a good police officer for 15 years. Please. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  The full story is that my former girlfriend was abusing her pain medication.  When she was high she would sometimes hit me.  One day she starting arguing with me and backed me in a corner.  She began hitting me over and over.  The only thing I could do was push her away.  When I did she fell backwards into the bath tub, hit her head and died.  Domestic violence happens to men too.  Please help and if you cant please say a prayer.  Thank you for reading and visiting me.
