Sassy's story, as told by her foster mom...

Sassy was dumped at the Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) when her former owner was told how expensive the CCL surgery would be to repair her injured leg. Even with a local dog rescue, Tucson Cold Wet Noses (TCWN), helping out by sharing the generous discount their vet gives them, this surgery will still cost $900. Less than a year ago, a dog entering PACC would have faced certain death. But thanks to the new Shelter Vet, these dogs are now being given a chance to find rescuers and fosters willing to take on their case and find the resources outside of the shelter to help them get the level of care that an under-funded government animal shelter can not possibly provide.

When I saw her face on the shelter’s special needs rescue/adoption list, I had to go meet her. I found her in a kennel with 2 other dogs, lying on a towel on the cold, hard concrete. Her kennelmates happily came to the gate to greet me, but poor Sassy didn’t move. She laid there just looking at me with her sad eyes.

Since I took her in as a foster, she has blossomed into a friendly and happy dog, even though she gets around by hopping. She deserves to live a life free of pain and eventually find a forever home with a new family. Sassy is young and full of life, and because she does use her leg at times, she is deemed a good candidate for surgery.

This is how she gets around right now:

Even though she can't use her rear leg the way she should, look at what a happy-go-lucky dog she is:

Please help us to raise the funds required in order to get Sassy her surgery. All funds raised will be used by TCWN, paid to their vet who will provide the surgery at a substantial discount.

Thank-you for donating and sharing this fundraiser with others you know who might want to help this sweet girl live a full life free of pain. Every dollar helps, no donation is too small!

Please help my foster mom so I can have my surgery and get back to running and playing the way I love to!
