Donate to our legal defense fund for 5 people facing legal repression after showing up to support migrant/pro-migrant peoples counter protesting anti immigrant racism in Murrieta, CA.

On July 4th, 2014: 3 days after Murrieta police assisted right-wing, anti-migrant protestors in stopping buses carrying 140 migrants, 4 pro-migrant protestors and one person filming their arrest were arrested and brutalized in Murrieta, CA. These 5 individuals: Jacqueline Sanchez, Salvador Chavez, Pouyan Bokaei, Jessica Rey and Janet Mathieson; are now facing felony Lynching charges along with misdemeanor resisting arrest and one count of misdemeanor battery on an officer.

We are currently organizing our legal defense (and receiving donations) since the Murrieta DA has chosen to file charges despite the overwhelming evidence of 1) unlawful arrest 2) selective enforcement and prosecution in favor of the anti immigrant protesters 3) sexual assault and homophobia and 4) excessive force and brutality.

The felony lynching charge carries a sentence of up to 4 years and has been increasingly used by police to criminalize people in crowds. Which "legally" gives cover to the police for all sorts of abuses of power. Please help us fend off the Riverside / Murrieta court system.

All monies collected will go toward legal fees such as lawyers, filing fees or appeals, bail debts and transportation costs. We appreciate every bit you can share with us as legal repression is costly and draining on all of us. Please share this link with your networks and have a wonderful day.
