Dasha Sofia has only recently turned 2 years old, and been diagnosed with cancer.
Dasha Sofia came into this world following an extremely high-risk and
troubling pregnancy. Her mother was admitted to hospital at 20 weeks,
and remained there, in bed and under close observation, until Dasha
could be born.
Everyone agreed that when Dasha arrived in this world on the
27th April 2012 (3 weeks premature) it was nothing short of a miracle.
Since Dasha's arrival into this world she has captured the
hearts of all those that meet her. She is a funny, vivacious,
beautiful little girl with a huge heart and a zest life.
On Friday 16th May, 2014, Dasha - who had only celebrated her
2nd Birthday weeks before - was diagnosed with cancer (neuroblastoma).
She was immediately despatched via NETS Ambulance under lights and
sirens, to the Westmead Children's Hospital, where the specialist
staff confirmed that a cancerous mass, the size of a fist, was growing
on and around her spine - directly behind her heart. The tumor was
slowly consuming the bone and delicate nerves, so Dasha underwent
urgent chemotherapy to attack and shrink the cancer before it could do
further damage. (Doctors later confirmed that if the diagnosis had
been only 48 hours later, Dasha would have permanently lost all
feeling/movement from her chest down.)
Dasha's parents have not left her side since the terrible news.
Dasha needs their constant love and support.
Dasha is a cheeky, beautiful and loving child. It has only just
been revealed that she has been living with the debilitating pain of
this cancerous tumor for many months, yet she has still had a smile
and a laugh for her family and friends. We can only wonder what her
world will be like once she has conquered the threat of cancer, and
can enjoy a truly pain free life for the first time..
