Hi, as some of you may already know, due to my Cataplexy & Narcolepsy, I applied for a mobility Service Dog from Canine Partners for Life last year and I have been matched with Rollo! He is a fantastic big two year old yellow lab who is also an alert dog.

Hello Everyone! As some of you may already know, due to my Narcolepsy & Cataplexy, I applied for a mobility and alert Service Dog from Canine Partners for Life last year and I have been matched with Rollo! He is a fantastic big two year old yellow lab who is also an alert dog. I will be the first person with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy that Canine Partners for Life has trained a dog to work with. Rollo and I get to be the test pilots. Click on the arrow on the big picture of Rollo above and be inspired by what these dogs can do for their partners and be sure to share it with your friends. It is wonderful.

This whole journey started my freshman year in high school when I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy. Narcolepsy is an incurable sleep disorder caused by the lack of a chemical in my brain that keeps ‘normal’ people awake. Cataplexy causes my muscles to suddenly weaken, my knees to buckle and me to collapse to the floor causing scrapes, bruises, and the occasional concussion. Frequently, I have sudden sleep attacks throughout the day. Rollo will provide me with much needed stability while I walk, stand and do other everyday activities I no longer take for granted. Hopefully, he will also be able to alert me to my cataplexy and sleep attacks. In addition to support and warnings, he will give me confidence and my independence as I head off to college.

With the gift of Rollo, comes a lot of financial expenses. Rollo and I will meet and train for three weeks together this summer in Pennsylvania. Here we will learn about each other and become partners. During those three weeks, I need to cover the cost of various training field trips, traveling expenses, some lodging, dog food, and a very long list of service dog supplies. Canine Partners asked for me to only pay for a fraction of the $29,000 it cost to train Rollo over the last two years. So, this is where I would appreciate your help! My goal is to raise $6,000 to help cover these costs.

If you do not feel comfortable paying online, there is another way to donate! You can write a check payable to Canine Partners for Life (It is tax deductible for you) and send it to me: 1120 Forest Heights Terrace, Dacula, Georgia 30019 (Do not put my name on the check if you
want it to be tax deductible!) If you want it to be a gift for
the personal expenses for me such as travel, food, lodging, and equipment,
then you can make the check out to me personally (these are not tax
deductible though).

If you have any questions about Canine Partner for Life please feel free to call 610-869-4902 extension 210. They will be able to answer any question you may have regarding the CPL
