Lesley Emery hasn't added a story.

Precious and Shadow are my two foster Dogs from Turkey...

My name is Lesley and I visit Marmaris in Turkey several times a year and have become a volunteer at the Marmaris Dog Pound which is where I first met little Precious, her mother, a Golden Retriever was dumped at the pound, heavily pregnant, within 2 days she had given birth to 9 tiny black puppies.

One by one they died until there were 3 left and they seemed fine for a couple of weeks, but when I visited the pound one day I found 2 had died and Precious was very poorly, they had got a virus of either Parvo or Distemper, so I took Precious home with me, thinking that she would die also but at least wouldn't be all alone in a concrete pen and know a little bit of love...Against all the odds she made it through and made a full recovery.. The last one of 9, so I called her Precious

I have been looking after her in Turkey ever since and she loves me, follows me everywhere, does what I tell her to do and is very clever and loving.

She is now 17 weeks old and because I have had her so long she cannot go back to the pound as she has not learnt and does not know how to fight for her food or stick up for herself, so would not survive there, with all the other bigger Dogs.

I could not find a forever home for her but did manage to find a temporary home with a nice lady until I return on the 19th October, but again she will have no where to go when I leave, so am asking for any help that you can give me to fund her injections and transport to the UK so she can live forever with me.

Shadow is an English Pointer who was dumped at the pound about 4 weeks ago, I just happened to see him curled up in the back of a pen and was told he had been dumped that day by his owner...

Shadow was in the most terrible state and had been starved nearly to death, he was sickening to look at, he couldn't stand, he was so weak, his eyes were all green and gungy, his nails were about 2 inches long, his feet were swollen and bright red, he had no fur on his legs and he was filthy and you could see all of his skeleton through his skin... I took him home with me and started to feed him a desert spoon of recovery food every 2 hours and he was taken to the vet for Serum and antibiotics every day for 18 days, he has had blood tests and fortunately his internal organs have not been damaged from his ordeal.

The vet said it had taken 6 months for him to reach this state, he must have just been left in the dirt somewhere, with no food for months... he is also very scared especially of men so I think he had been beaten as well.

When he was first weighed he was only 9kg with a towel wrapped round him, so people didnt get upset when they saw him. he is now 11kg but should actually be 23kg.

Slowly, he started to be able to lift his head and then  stand, then wag his tail and could walk a little into the garden, his fur has started to grow back and his skin is now pink instead of red, the vet has cut his claws and he has even had a couple of baths and is now clean and his eyes are clean and bright, best of all he has put on 2 KG and has a thin layer of fat over his ribs so just needs to carry on putting on weight and he will be good as new again.

Shadow is a very quiet Dog but through it all had a dignity about him, that you just had to fall in love with him, and I did, before I came home, and he left for a foster home, I whispered in his ear that I would come back for him and somehow with your help I will.

Please, if you can, help me to get my two babies back to the Uk, where they can have lots of love, which they both deserve, I would be more than grateful.

I have 4 months to raise the money as that is how long it takes for them to have their rabies injections and blood tests and wait for the results etc..

Thank You sooo much for any help you can give them to come home to me xxxx

Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
