Let me tell you about my Brother. His name was Robert Slimak. He loved to be called "Rob" or "Slim." He loved his wife Holly and his two dogs Lana and Cesar. He loved living in Richmond. He loved spending time with his friends and family. He loved going to Redskins games with family. He loved going to school. He loved going to VCU and then Richmond University School of Law. He loved talking about what kind of lawyer he was going to be when he graduated. He loved talking of the "much larger" house that he was going to be able to afford once he was graduated and working with a local law firm.

Sadly, these dreams were cut short. Tragically on March 22nd 2008, my brother Rob passed away while hiking with friends in the Crabtree falls park.

He was only 26.
He was 2 months shy of graduating from Law school.

Dreams cut short and left unfulfilled are the bitterest dreams of all. Not only did he leave behind a wife, 2 dogs, a brother, sister, Father, Mother and Grandparents, but he also left behind a sizable student loan amount.

The loss of a child is a terrible burden for any parent/sibling/spouse to face. It's massive and emotional burden becomes even more bitter when the grieving loved ones are left to resolve any outstanding loans.

Banks and lending institutions do not offer instant loan forgiveness upon the passing of the principle.

My Grandmother was the co-signer for Rob's student loans. Which means the lending companies have come to her for the balance of these loans. She herself is elderly and on fixed care and income. Because of her situation, my Father has taken it upon himself to repay these loans. This is a huge burden. My father has recently gone through a divorce which has cut his retirement pension significantly. The monthly payments he is making to eventually pay off my brothers loans are a significant burden financially and emotionally.

My brother had friends. I have friends. Everyone reading this has friends and family. Lets come together in honor of Rob and the love he had for his family and friends and lets see if we can raise the funds necessary to get these loans paid off.

The goal amount is: $14000. If we can get 2800 people to donate just $5 it's paid off. If we get 1400 people to donate just $10 ... it's paid off. Through the power of social media and the internet, we can circulate this page around and meet the goal and liberate my father from the burden of these financial obligations.

Donations are acceptable by clicking the paypal button. Feel free to contact me with any questions or info @ aslimak@gmail.com
