Air raid sirens occur often throughout Ukraine as pe ople are signaled to shelter in underground basements and bomb shelters. This is not a reality for many people with disabilities as most shelters are not accessible for people in wheelchairs. As well, fleeing danger zones is also difficult because accessible transportation is scarce. We are fundraising for a wheelchair accessible sprinter van that will be used for transporting refugees with disabilities in Ukraine to safer areas (western parts of Ukraine ) and to neighboring countries, such as Poland.

Alina Tupchyk has been involved with volunteer work in Ukraine for over 10 years and goes to Ukraine on almost a yearly basis. During her time there she visits people with special needs in their homes, helps out at camps for people with disabilities, and teaches local therapists rehabilitation techniques and use of specialized equipment. Throughout each year Alina collects and ships dozens of boxes of humanitarian aid and connects with locals who distribute to the people in need.
