Hi, everypawdy! My name iz Bella, and I iz 8 years old today! For mah birfday, instead of cewebrating, I haz to have suwgewy!! I'm reawwy sad cuz I can't be home to be wif my mommy and daddy to gets ice cweam and be spoiled, but teh pwace mommy and daddy took me too sang to me and loved on me- so I guess that's not too bad! But suwgewy is not fun! Mommy and daddy say I'm a pwincess, and I am- but I kinda heawd this is a wittle expwensive. I don't haz pawckets! Could you hewp me, pwease?

All cuteness aside Bella started having noticeable pain early last week. I took her to the vet on Thursday and they stated she had injured her back. I brought her home and she was doing ok on meds and over the weekend I noticed her back right leg was bowing in and sometimes it would just give out.  called the vet Monday because she was no better and definately had worsened. The vet recommended her to see a neurologist because one of her reflexes in her right leg was not there. My husband and I drove her to VCA and that is where she has been since Monday. 

When the did the MRI, the neurologist stated that she did not understand how Bella could even walk the herniated disc was so bad. So here we are today, her 8th birthday and are waiting for her to go to surgery. Without it, her prognosis would not be so good.

Update: Rec'd a call from the neurologist and the surgery was successful. She told me that the disc rupture was huge and that she got a lot out of her. Bella has a small herniation around the spinal cord and the doctor felt that this was an earlier issue and that she should heal nicely!
