MY STORY
My name is Rosie and I am founder and owner of Shugga Wuggas Handmade Soaps & Bath Treats. I am an Army Combat Veteran that served 12 years with 3 tours to Iraq and 1 tour to Africa. I’ve been making soap for 3 years now.
WHY HANDMADE
I am a firm believer in keeping your skin looking healthy, clean and soft to the touch. I began this adventure when I decided to take a good look at the ingredients being used in all the bath products that I was using. I was not pleased with all the harmful ingredients in our soaps and skin care products. So, with the help of my cute little goat friends (yes, I said goat friends. I raised dairy goats at the time), I began making handmade soaps using goat's milk.
LOCALLY MADE
My handmade soaps and bath treats are made locally right here in my soap studio that use to be my guest bedroom. I make my soaps using the cold process method which is the act of mixing fixed oil with an alkali (Sodium Hydroxide or Lye). The result is a chemical process called saponification, where the composition of the oils changes with the help of the lye to create a bar of soap. Each bar is handmade with my own two hands and takes 4-6 weeks to cure to maintain the integrity of the nutrients, fragrance oils, essential oils and vitamins in my soap. Shugga Wuggas has gained popularity through word of mouth, friends and family, Facebook, Instagram, farmer's markets, and craft fairs.
MY MISSION
I am so excited about opening my very first retail store! It has been a goal of mine for some time now. There is really something special about personally engaging with customers. When people can touch, smell and see how aesthetically pleasing my products are, they become a customer for life.
I want to change how people purchase bath and body products. With your help, I can bring my soap and bath treats to the city of Salina for people to purchase locally. I will also be able to offer workshops to show people how I make soap and bath treats.
MY GOAL
I need $4,000 to get my store ready for business. Here’s how I will use the money I raise:

MAKING AN IMPACT
Like I mentioned before, most ingredients that beauty products use these days are not so great. They are loaded with all kinds of chemicals that are not only cheap fillers, but harmful.
I’ve been selling my products online since 2016. I think that opening a retail location is the next step for me to increase brand awareness and create a place where people can come to learn about soap making, bath treats and their ingredients.
