Hi, my name is Urooj. I'm based in Karachi, Pakistan, and I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I'm a 34-year-old mama of a zoom-y toddler.
Fibro has, to put it mildly, completely changed my life by reducing my mobility to a shadow of what it used to be.
Some days, I can deal with life well enough with the help of my rollator walker. Most days, though, I rely on my wheelchair.
I currently have a comfy-but-basic manual wheelchair, which is nice, but it doesn't help on days when fibro sets the muscles in my back and shoulders on fire. I can't roll my wheelchair around when my arms are in agony; which is where an electric wheelchair comes in.
An electric wheelchair will help me take care of my kidlet and my garden (in addition to other things which need to be done, such as running errands, and generally, life) on the days when my only other option is to lie in bed, completely immobilised by pain.
That said, given that I'm not able to work full-time (atleast for now, until I get a handle on this fibromyalgia thing), we have become a single-income household, where the one paycheque in the house is used to (barely) make ends meet.
As such, there is no way in hell that I'll be able to afford a decent electric wheelchair on my own (they cost around US$ 350, including shipping), which is where y'all come in.
Please help me find an electric wheelchair so that I can get back to doing life again without being held back by the lack of an appropriate mobility aid. Thankyou!
