My name is Jacqueline Rosario. I am seeking to be elected as School Board Member in Indian River County in order that I might take part in making a difference in the lives of all children in our county because that is what I have dedicated my life to do.
Who am I?
I am an educator with over two decades of experience as a teacher and school supervisor and administrator. On a more personal level, I am a woman of faith, a wife, and a mom. I have been married to my husband, Milton Rosario for twelve years. We have a 9 year old son, Nicholas who is looking forward to entering 5th grade in the Fall. My husband is a retired NYPD Detective. He is currently a School Resource Deputy at a high school in St. Lucie County, as well as the Vero Beach Police Department Chaplain. I am extremely proud of his accomplishments. We have a heart for the people in our community, more specifically for all children.
I am confident in my ability to work on a team of hard working elected officials, faculty, staff, community members, including parents and children of Indian River County. I know that team work is community work. Accordingly, achieving goals shows that everyone worked hard to reach their best potential and make a difference in the life of each child we serve and love.
As one of many board members, I will be dedicated to increasing community involvement, being fiscally responsible, engaging in discussions about how we can retain highly qualified instructional staff, and creating an environment where teachers are encouraged to reach their best potential while instilling in our children a love of learning so that they too can reach their fullest potential. Homeschooling is a school choice many parents in Indian River County opt for. I'd like to see extra-curricular activities, clubs, after school programs, summer school, even sports offered to our local homeschool students. It is my desire to see children with special needs and children who are second language learners receive what they need rather than what we can afford to give them.
I want to push the envelope even more regarding reading proficiency and literacy. I feel we can never do enough raising the bar on achievement with regards to this. I would also love to see more STEAM related events; that is, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. As a school district, we should offer college and career county-wide programs in collaboration with community members, business owners, parents, as well as local colleges and universities.
As a lifelong learner and educator, I understand the significance of affecting change and making a difference in the lives of all children. This is why I am running for School Board Member.
