Hello,
I'm Richard Allen. I'm 31 and have been diagnosed with bowel cancer. I would like to treat my cancer with integrative therapies. These are therapies that work alongside standard nhs treatments. They are treatments that ease the side effects of standard treatments and support the body.
My grandfather aged 97 has this disease and takes daily pills to keep it under control. This disese took my fathers life over a period of seven years, he was only 60 when he left. He used only the nhs to care for his cancer as does his father.
I feel i have an undiagnosed digestion problem that is being ignored by doctors ive spoken to. I have been steadily losing weight since November 2014. The doctors solution is just to eat anything heavy in calories: Ice cream, chocolate and hand on my heart... McDonalds milkshakes were even recommended. The dotors have offered no alternative to this. They have not offered any tests, futher enquiry or concern when i report back with those foods not sitting well. I have tried eating super healthy also but have the same results.
My treatments carried on regardless and was uneducated on where to turn. I felt let down and had so little energy to persue alternatives. The internet offered very little help as advice is so varied and from unknown sources. My mum was trying her best to do everything for me, she scrapped every cell in her body to help and did what she could.
My sister Amy came back from her life in Spain to see me. She returned during my last week of radiotherapy and was scared. I was in pain management all day, smoking weed due to the unrelentless pain, taking morphine regularly for pain, sleeping all day with the curtains shut with a self guided meditation on repeat, little social contact and no one actually monitering my condition.
My sister decided to shake me up and said "You're going to die if you lie here doing less and less!" She threw open the curtains and woke me up to begin the process of coming to terms with the reality of my disease. Amy has been a soulmate throughout my life and was maybe the only one capable of achieving this.
In the following days with the help of my sister we have beeen working with a ex nhs oncologist nurse who has an intergrative cancer consultancy service. She recommend some things to try with the diet and it worked. It was the first time in months I saw a teeny dot of light and potentially an answer to my diet problems.
Here's where things get bad...
Mum and Amy have an undying fued. I moved into my mums house after the diagnosis. Mum decided she couldnt cope with Amy in the house. She said Amy has to fly home :(
Amy is my sister and best friend. I love her and shouldn't be separted at this critical time. Also she was the only one to sit by my side 24/7, empower me and find a solution to my problem.
There was no way Amy was leaving...
Mum blew up and stated AMY'S NOT STAYING HERE!
So i said if Amy leaves then I go with her. Mum watched her cancerous son pack up everything with his sister and leave the house whilst stating I would recieve No HELP whatsoever until I'm back under her roof.
(Mum had agreed to pay for hyperbaric oxygen therapy for me after i setup all the appoinments. She said 'Get them to call me and ill pay.' After leaving the house mum has refused to pay. Then declared I would recieve no finacial help with anything until i return home. Also if I return home I'm to ignore the advice of the consultant)
We stuffed everything in my friends car and left the house in the most stressful painful way. It was by far the hardest and most upsetting moment of my life, words will never explain the shock at my own mothers behaviour towards her children.
I spent a night and day there then went onto another friends house the next day. All the while monitering my food intake and following the guide and feeling better and better. Each day offering increased energy and less pain.
I don't want to return to my mothers house as I want to be in control of my future. I'd love to have my mum on side and i could spend time healing rather than running an individual charity to finance my cancer.
So here I am. Fighting MY cancer. Equipped with the will of a lion, an angel of a sister, the most amazing friends and the internet :)
I would greatly appreciate any funds to finance my road to recovery.
My dad was a very clever businessman and earned millions in his carrer. My mum is extremely wealhy because of this. The money required for my road to recovery wouldn't even come close to the £60,000 renovation planned on my mother's £400,000 mortgage free home. She recently sold one of her properties in Ickleford for £150,000. She has rental income from two properties in Hitcin town center also.
I promise from the bottom of my heart i will offer to return every penny donated, to every soul that donates should i ever fall into that sort of money.
It breaks my heart to be in this terrible predicament and can only imagine the pain my mum is going through. However, I cannot heal myself under her conditions without the help of my sister.
It has given me the drive, determination and will to live and get through my cancer, my way.
