June 29, 2015 is the day that immeasurably changed the lives of Gabe Eyers and Chloe Angus, forever. For 40 years Chloe Angus has lived a normal life of health, fitness and giving to others. She has shared this life with Gabe Eyers for 20 of these years and together they have successful careers, a beautiful home, a special pony named Sonny, a warm and caring group of friends, and most importantly, a very close knit family. Chloe walked into a hospital at 4am on June 29th with nothing more than a tingling in her feet and some minor back pain, and within 24 hours, Chloe lost all functionality of her body from the chest down. Chloe’s world was changed forever when she learned that she had a hemangioma tumor in her spinal cord which is basically a small tumor in the middle of her spinal cord, the location makes it impossible to operate on. Over the next few days of intense diagnosis by some of the best doctors in Canada, the incomprehensible was confirmed, Chloe will probably never walk again and will be in a wheel chair for the rest of her life. Needless to say, it will be a long road of recovery for her and Gabe, but they have accepted the fact that they now must prepare to accommodate their new life together. Chloe will be in a rehab facility for the next few months, learning what she has to about how to live her life in a wheelchair, but she will soon be home and the home that she shares with Gabe needs to be ready for Chloe. This is where we come in. I have started this fundraising site so that those that have come to know and love Chloe and Gabe can help give back and help make their home as wheelchair accessible as possible. GF Strong is currently preparing an assessment of the renovation needed at Chloe and Gabe’s home, but that estimate is expected to come in at between $130,000 and $150,000
