Kahlan Van Horn rescued a couple kittens is currently nursing them back to health with the money she had been saving to get a laptop. Let's reward her selflessness!
Kahlan is the daughter of Wanda and Michael Van Horn. You might remember Michael who passed away from esophageal cancer, June 4th 2011.
This post from Wanda showed up in my facebook feed 9/24: Kahlan Van Horn recently rescued a couple kittens they were starving full of fleas and in very poor health.I am so proud of what she did and am proud to know she has such a big heart. Instead of buying a laptop which she really wanted. She was using the money she had been earning all summer to care for and nurse these kittens back to health. One of the kittens required surgery because of the neglect they had experienced before we found them.
While reading I just knew, if there was anything I could do, she was going to get that laptop!
When her father got sick she did a couple fundraisers for him. Kahlan would go door to door every day after school raising money to help him. She gave him the money at the end of the week. At just 9 years old she raised about $500 all by herself. If you can imagine, she handed him the money and said, "This is for you to find a cure!"
I know you wish as much I do, that we had found that cure. But what we can do right now is show Kahlan that we appreciate her selflessness and empathy. Please give what you can.
Michael would be so proud of Kahlan. Let's help her get her laptop.
