Hannah-Lee Slep hasn't added a story.
Hannah has always felt different. She has never been one to conform or follow the crowd simply because that is not who she is. So it has only made since that Hannah has greatly struggled about the next chapter in her life after graduating high school.
The process began mid Junior year by talking to her college guidance counselor. But the real journey began when she went to a Gap Year fair in January of 2012. A year of her own immediately sparked her interest. She knew that if she were to take a Gap Year, she wanted to do something with it, not "dilly dally" as her parents would say. No, she is too motivated and too determined to sit around and do nothing.
However, she still applied to college, and by spring of her senior year, narrowed down her choices to UNC Chapel Hill or University of Miami in Florida. Hannah was getting all caught up in the exciting times of choosing colleges - something that everyone was doing in her grade. So she figured, okay, I'm going to college next year. But she struggled and stressed over which one. In her mind, Hannah felt Miami fit her better. But deep down inside, what she really needed was a year off from everything—some time to focus on her and what she really wants out of life because what 18 year old really knows?
Now:
After a series of events, at the last moment, Hannah decided to take a Gap Year. She plans to work where she currently works with an expected promotion, at Jewell Treats in the Southpark Mall and in Hearst Towers in downtown Charlotte and wishes to continue tutoring through her school for the remainder of the calender year. She is also working at UNC Charlotte in the Science and Math department for a summer program.
Hannah plans on saving most of this money for college, but is also going to use some for her main adventure: France! Mr. Karolinski, her Belgian French teacher, recommended an excellent program called CIDEF to her. Run through a University in Anger (Université Catholique de l'Ouest), the program would allow her to not only study the language, but learn about the culture and history of the country as well.
French, travel, love of adventure, experiencing new and different cultures, and meeting new people have always been passions of Hannah's. Although she is going to be working a lot these next 7 months, Hannah still needs your help to finance her trip, which includes tuition, stay, and food. Also, it is in euros, and the ratio has been around 1 US dollar = .77 euros.
Hannah will forever be grateful of ANY donation. The sooner, the better. If you supply over $200, I will get you a special souvenir when I go!
Thank you SO much for your time and donations. I really can't explain how thankful I truly am and will always appreciate your kind gesture.
