The Laboratory of Science is one of the most vital Gainesville music and arts venues. If I did not believe that, I would not host my Monday night shows there. In the challenging business climate of summer, the Laboratory microphones have been used, abused, pilferred, and all the other things that happen to microphones in the music world. There are literally zero quality mics. So for all who believe in local music venues and friends of The Laboratory, I and Chris Miller are starting an independent fundriser to provide the Laboratory with 3 high quality highly durable Shure SM-58 microphones so they may continue to host great bands and provide quality sound. I am not the richest guy in the world, yet even I will start this effort with a twenty-dollar donation. If you can, I ask you to match me. If you own a used Shure SM-57s or SM-58s, I ask you to consider contributing one or two. Let's come together and show the folks at the Laboratory (those who take risks and make sacrifices for the music and culture we all love) that we can step up to the plate for our local venue and help. We only need to raise $300 to accomplish this task. And Chris Miller and I intend for this to happen as soon as possible. Thank you for your support. All funds raised by this platform will go directly to the Lab for the express purpose of providing high quality durably microphones for their stage. If you can not donate either a small contribution or a microphone, please consider sharing this with your friends. Regards, and see you at The Laboratory - a Cafe and Music Venue of Science! --Tom Miller
