Valerie’s Journey: A New Chapter Begins
Hi, my name is Valerie. I am about to turn 27 years old and I am a Philosophy student at UCR (University of Costa Rica). Until recently, I lived independently with my cat Gon, who is my constant companion and source of comfort.
I have always loved working out — it helped me relieve stress, stay focused, and feel strong in both body and mind. I also love drawing and crafting; creativity has always been one of the ways I express myself and find joy in everyday life.
On February 15th, my life changed in an instant. While at a trampoline park, I suffered a severe accident that caused fractures in my cervical spine from C4 to C6, resulting in a spinal cord injury. I am now paralyzed from the shoulders down, and my ability to breathe independently has been impacted.
I am conscious and alert. I am still me. Although speaking can be difficult at times, my mind remains strong.
The road ahead will be long and challenging. I will require ongoing medical care, respiratory support, intensive rehabilitation therapy, specialized equipment, and significant home modifications to adapt to this new reality.
Before the accident, I was fully independent. Today, I depend on others for even the most basic daily activities. Adjusting to this new life is not only emotionally overwhelming, but also financially demanding.
The funds raised will go directly toward:
• Medical expenses
• Rehabilitation and therapy
• Respiratory equipment
• Assistive devices
• Home accessibility modifications
Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for being part of this new chapter in my life.
With gratitude,
Valerie

El nuevo comienzo de Valerie
Hola, mi nombre es Valerie. Estoy
recaudados serán destinados a:
• Gastos médicos
• Terapias y
rehabilitación
• Equipos respiratorios
• Dispositivos de
asistencia
• Adaptaciones en el hogar
Cualquier aporte, sin
importar el monto, hace una gran diferencia. Si no puedes donar,
vida.
Con gratitud,
Valerie
