This isn’t easy to write, but I’m sharing my story because I have no other option. My name is Emily, and I’m a single mom who has fought to rebuild life after escaping domestic violence. I never wanted to be the person asking for help, but today, I’m swallowing my pride because I’m so close to changing my life forever— and I can’t let it slip away.

A few years ago , my life was completely different. I was stuck in a toxic, dangerous situation—isolated, broken down, feeling like my dreams didn’t matter anymore. I was told I’d never be more than someone’s punching bag or someone’s “kept” woman. But I made the hardest decision of my life: I left. I got out with nothing but my child, a trash bag of clothes, and the hope that somehow, things could be different.

Since then, I’ve worked tirelessly to build a safe home for my child. I scraped together enough to rent a house, started over from scratch, and pushed through every single obstacle—quietly, privately, without ever asking for handouts. I worked multiple jobs, juggled motherhood, and slowly started to breathe again.

But survival isn’t enough for me. I want to thrive. I want to be a woman my child can look up to. And more than anything—I want to fight for other women like me, for people who feel voiceless, who are trapped by systems that fail them.

That’s why I applied to law school. And I got in! Not only did I get in—but I got accepted into a program that focuses on family law, where I can eventually advocate for domestic violence victims, children in broken homes, and families in crisis.

This isn’t just about me—it’s about breaking cycles of abuse, showing my child what it means to fight for your future, and becoming a force for good in this world.

This is my shot to not just survive but to change lives. But right now, I’m facing a heartbreaking reality—my tuition of $59,870.00 must be covered to secure my spot, with an immediate payment of $7,992.00 due by tomorrow or I lose everything I’ve worked so hard for. I will also be responsible for covering and monies paid via scholarships plus fees. My transcripts will  be held until payment is made in full preventing me from attending any other school.

💔 I have nowhere else to turn but here.

I’ve exhausted every option—applied for grants, scholarships, payment plans. I’ve done side jobs, sold what I could, and I’m still coming up short. There’s no family to lean on, no backup plan, just me doing everything I can to stay afloat for my child.
