Hi pals! This is Dom, I'm a nonbinary trans masc Aussie dude. I mod a meme page on the internet (gender neutral memes for enby fiends) as well as mod and run a bunch of other trans and LGBTQ+ pages. I'm not super comfy having to do this, but I don't have any other avenues to achieve what I need to and I've been searching for formal employment for months with no success.
The situation I've found myself in is that my partner of almost 2 years Sam, a trans femme non-binary person, is over in America (Utah to be specific) and I've visited them and lived over there for a bit (I even proposed :D) but ultimately decided to move back home as my mental health was struggling out there and I was draining on Sam's income as I was only on a tourist visa so unable to work.
We are both mentally-ill, and the climate in Utah is extremely transphobic and homophobic. Apart from how hard it is to be apart from your partner, their mental health has been rapidly declining recently due to this climate, the financial pressures and other outside factors and I am getting increasingly worried about them. They don't have a support system over in Utah, and getting medical care for their mental illnesses and type 1 diabetes is basically impossible. As a result I really really need to get them over here to Australia as soon as I possibly can.
We are both saving as hard as we can, but the visa application we need for Sam to move over here permanently is $7000, and the flight itself around $1000. Sam also has some leftover student debt from a degree they ended up not being able to finish, so we are trying to pay that off as well.
I totally understand that most of us trans and nonbinary peeps are just as broke as each other, but if everyone I've ever helped out on my pages donated even $1 I would have more than enough to be able to save my partner from a super terrible situation. I would be extremely grateful for whatever anyone can spare, I just can't bear to watch my partner slowly getting worse and worse from afar and not being able to help them.
