I was blessed to have parents who brought me up with pets and taught us to treat them with kindness, love and compassion. I remember my first rescue as a child.. rather bird when I was about 4 years old.. it was a Indian eagle.. majestic and one of the most magnificient creatures I had found half dead with a bullet under its wing (we found this later on) I didn't have the courage to touch it so I kept pestering my Dad to come and have a look at this poor helpless bird. We took it home, then the vets and nursed it back to heath. Within weeks he was ready to spread his wings and fly free. Everyday he came and perched himself close by to the house on the top of a TV antenna in those days and I knew that this is something I could feel complete joy within.. I let no opportunity to save animals.. how it would happen, I have had to live this far to retell my experiences & numerous rescues as I went on to carry out growing up and still do. It didn't matter where I found the dog, the cat, the crow, the pig, the birds or the bees.. I know they all had to be nursed back to health and saved somehow..
Life went on and I pursued my career between Pune, Mumbai & Goa in India leaving eventually in 2011 and moving to Dubai where I met my better half. He decided he was done from the UAE and looked for a move to SE Asia and so the opportunity arose along with the journey in Cambodia and goes on. Moving here was one of the hardest choices of my life and I needed to find a purpose. With pet grooming experience from India and running my own pet services for about six years I found that there was an urgent need for quality pet care in Cambodia and thus was the birth of Pet Grooming Cambodia, to give state of the art pet care and services with grooming, cage/kennel and confinement free homestay style boarding.
In March of 2016 I came across a advertisement on one of the pet forums that there were some dog meat trade survivors looking to be fostered and thought to myself why not. We had just adopted our Sasha who is a rehomed Cocker Spaniel and thought some company would be great to help with her anxiety. "Dustin" came as a foster and became a forever in our lives. I dwelled deep into this... "Dog Meat Trade Survivor".. didn't understand at all that much as I hadn't come across anything like this in India, surely does exist in some remote places but not face forward. A few months later I was contacted by the Operations team of The Animal Hope & wellness foundation based in Los Angeles, California. I wanted to know more, where these dogs were rescued from by who and what would eventually happen. Marc Ching had made his first trip then to Cambodia and rescued a batch then. We were also already expanding and assisting our clients with international relocations. My journey began since with these dog meat trade survivors and now we are a part of it.. I've nearly lost count of how many have come since, gone and moved to their forever homes in the US, I do know that when we pick these dogs up they are in a state beyond my comprehension of how forgiving they turn out to be to us as human beings. They come bruised, beaten, malnourished, sometimes with their paws severed off while they are alive in pain and trauma. We at Pet Services Cambodia as committed to rehabilitating these dogs. Giving them love, confidence, support to regain strength - physically, mentally and most emotionally to know that "LOVE" does exist.
We ask for your support to enable us to be able to reach out to more dogs and cats. Nothing is impossible collectively. There are a number of organisations working day in and day out to help the many streets animals and tortured ones in all ways possible.
We appeal you to help us in any way possible to meet our overheads to support these dogs so the two can be able to give them good nutritional support until they set off to their forever loving homes. Its not only these dogs but we are also involved in picking up cats from the streets, nursing them back to health, doing complete vaccination, microchip, desexing or neutering and finding forever homes for them. If you have any questions and know how you can be of any assistance or would also like to volunteer your time if your based in Phnom Penh and get more involved in our upcoming Pagoda rescue projects please feel free to email us at info@petservicescambodia.com
We look forward to your pawsome support!
