My name is Jacob Ladda and I am a multi-medium artist and multi-medium civil rights activist. I am committed to peaceful activism and standing with communities of oppression. I belive It is necessary to come together as a worldwide community and stand as one against repetitive injustice, hatred and oppression. I've stood with these beliefs at protests and occupations around the country over the past 10 years and will continue to do this work througout my life.
Conceptualizing, sculpting, drawing, tattooing and painting are passions I've had since childhood. Tattooing has been my main source of income for the last 12 years, but I recently had to walk away from a tattoo shop because of the extremely racist environment. This experience left me without the tattoo equipment I had been working towards owning. I have been struggling to support myself as a self-sustaining artist ever since that experience.
I was born with cerebral Palsey in my legs and was not able to walk until I was 7 years old. Due to the lack qaulity health insurance I have not been able to get the treatment necessary to manage my CP and I continue to suffer from issues in my legs and at now at the age of 30 I've become dependent on walking with a cane. If I do not start to pro-actively receive treatement my condition will only worsen until I can no longer walk.
I plan to take a self care trip to Thailand. The medical and dental care in Thailand is much more affordable than it is in the United States so it will allow me to get both a large portion of the medical and dental care I desparately need as well as an opportuninty to rest and restore myself and revive my passion for artwork and community service.
I plan to use this money raised to cover some of the costs of my medical expenses and to purchase a new tattoo machine and tools so that I can reconnect to that art form and creating a self-sustaining income source as arstist.
I care very deeply for my community and for the world as a whole and I plan to return and continue my activism work and work as a community artist, but I need desparately right now to take care of myself so I am able to continue the kind of work that I am passionate about.
