Faye Simard hasn't added a story.
My son, Greg and his wife Melina were married August of 2014. Greg is a self-employed private-duty nurse & Melina is a full-time nursing student. Melina has two children from a previous marriage that live with them full-time. Greg has three children from a previous marriage who spend half of the week with them. After some careful consideration, Greg and Melina decided to have a baby together and planned for the birth to fall between Melina's graduation and the start of her nursing career. Melina was due to graduate college in December of 2015.
Unfortunately, Melina was forced to take medical leave from nursing school due to complications from the pregnancy. She will have to repeat her final semester in the fall of 2016. The cost of another semester of school and waiting another year to work were not expenses they had planned for. Also, they learned they would be blessed with twins. The added expense of having two babies was also a surprise. Because Greg is self-employed, he does not get any paid time off. Taking a week off means losing a week's pay. This was accounted for in their early planning, but the money budgeted for that has long since been used up. There are also home and automobile repairs that need to be addressed, but they are being put off at this time so that the couple can focus on the needs of their two new babies.
Greg has increased his hours to 60/ week to cover some of the extra baby expenses. Without assistance, he will likely need to keep up this exhausting pace for at least another year. This will severely diminish the amount of time he has to see their newborn babies, help with their care and be with the rest of the family.
Please help them to make this a joyful time for the whole family & lift the financial strain by making donations or pledging a monthly gift, (for a period of your choosing). All money received will be used as follows:
1) Purchase baby supplies & clothes for the twins.
2) Recoup income lost when the babies are born so Greg can take some time off & still pay their monthly bills on time.
3) Buy a carpet or an area rug for the living room, (so the babies won't have to crawl on hardwood floors).
4) Cover the cost of tuition & books for Melina's final semester of nursing school.
This will be a challenging season for the whole family, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel: you. Help them get through this season and give their twin boys a good start.
