As some of you may already know I will be traveling to Palestine between 28th August and the 12th September with a group from Liverpool Hope University to volunteer and provide support for some of the most vulnerable families living under Israeli occupation.

In the last 10 days the Israelis have launched a vicious attack on the Palestinians living in Gaza. Over 200 men, women and children have been killed and over a thousand seriously injured.

The violation of human rights on Palestinians by Israeli Occupying forces has clearly not decreased despite the peace process. The list of offences is long including killings, arrests, demolition of houses, construction of illegal settlements on Palestinian land and severe restrictions on movement due to the hundreds of check points.

We will be meeting people who have been disabled by the conflict, spending time at DCi Palestine and working with women and children in the Tulkarem refugee camp.

When in Palestine we will spend the first two days in Jerusalem, before continuing onto the West Bank where we will spend the remainder of our trip.

When in the West Bank we will be visiting towns such as Ramallah, Nablus, Qualqilya, Jenin and Hebron. Hebron in particular is a town which is a site of intense conflict.

I will spend the majority of my time in the West Bank volunteering in refugee camps and in different organisations and projects such as the Tulkarem Women and Children’s Project.

I will also be staying with a Palestinian family in a Refugee Camp to gain a better understanding of what day to day life is like for these families living under Israeli occupation.

Having paid for my trip myself I am now looking to raise money to donate to the refugee projects we will be working with and would be very grateful if you, my friends, could support me with this. I will be taking this money directly to the projects, rather than going through an NGO.
