Abbey, a senior girl of 8 to 9 years, was thrown away like trash by her owner.  She was the most terrified dog I have ever seen in a shelter, cowering on the cement floor.  We went to the Montcalm Co Shelter looking for one dog for a foster family, we left with two.  When the foster family saw her they decided it would have been inhumane to leave her there another minute, a decision that saved her life.  Abbey came to life at her new foster home but it was apparent a few days later something was wrong, we rushed her to the vet only to discover she needed a life saving surgery immediately due to a Pyometra, a painful uterine infection that is fatal if untreated. The pain is said to be comparable to appendicitis in humans, but she never let on, she remained as sweet as ever, even though she was in agony.  Abbey came through her surgery very well and despite also having a severe whip worm infection she is on her way to a clean bill of health.  When we rescue a dog we make a promise that the life ahead of them will be monumentally better than the one they left behind.  This promise does not waiver when a dog needs medical care beyond what our funding allows, we will simply find a way which is why I am writing to you today, we need help, we cannot save any other dogs until her vet bill is paid for.  Kelley's Animal Clinic drastically discounted this procedure for us to $508.00, with her other medical expenses & follow up we need $625. We have receieved $165 in donations so far leaving a balance of $460 needed.  Abbey's foster mom sent a message yesterday stating that there is a brightness in Abbey's eyes that was not there before, this beautiful girl who loves car rides and to snuggle is finally pain free and able to relax, knowing she is loved and for the first time safe.  Any amount helps, and we thank you in advance for any amount you are willing to spare to help Abbey.  Our rescue is a 501c3 charity and is fully staffed by volunteers, every penny you donate goes to our dogs. You can also give directly to our vet; Kelley's Animal Clinic (616) 453-7422 by referencing Abbey of Saving Argo.
