In January 2007, Birdie (Brittany) Smith was diagnosed with astrocytoma cancerous tumor in her brain. At the time, Birdie was just 21 years old and a junior at The University of Oklahoma. She had surgery in May 2007 to remove the tumor and went through extensive rehabilitation to regain her ability to walk, talk and function normally. Birdie beat this and went on to graduate from OU in December 2012.

In January 2013, while preparing for graduate school, Birdie began experiencing problems once again. After extensive tests and a return trip to UCLA Medical Center in September, Birdie was diagnosed with a return of the same cancerous tumor.

Birdie’s new journey begins November 3 at UCLA Medical Center with pinpoint radiation treatments in hopes of avoiding another brain surgery. The costs of these and subsequent treatments, as well as the trips to LA from Tulsa, OK, are staggering.

We hope to raise $25,000 in this campaign to cover treatment costs as well as the travel and lodging for Birdie. Please join in contributing what you can to Birdies Battle. Thank you for your consideration. Every gifts helps.
