Jappie is a good friend of mine, and during our friendship, whether from pride or humility, he never mentioned to anyone that he lives crammed in a small, one room shack with 7 other people, including his one year old baby brother with downsydrome.

The shack is in deplorable condition for any one person -- let alone the two families that are now occupying it with a child with a handicap. Several people sleep in the bed and on the floor where water from a dilapidated roof leaks unto them throughout the entire winter season, exposing them to disease and a dismal standard of human dignity.

South Africa and many people worldwide have been on this more bleak side of capitalism; even when countries themselves where they live are in their prime era of prosperity, the poorest are treated as invisible and unworthy of an environmental condition that we all understand as "humane". That is why Ive decided to volunteer for "Where Rainbows Meet," which is a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting township communities.

My personal project, however, is to use whatever resources that I can get to procure a home for the members of Jappie's immediately family, who, if it werent for this dilapidated dwelling, would be made homeless. I've found space for a bungalow and have negotiated a fair price for the construction of it, including electricity and plumbing. Please help me achieve this goal by helping to provide the funds to get this most urgent project completed! And please, leave your name so that we can tell Jappie and his family exactly who helped them with housing; who gave from their hearts; and who understands the plight of millions of people like them who are given a torturous life, simply because of the condition under whiich they were born.
