Dustin Criscione hasn't added a story.
I have finished my run across Kansas. I was able to donate $1900 to the Brain Injury Association of Kansas. But I'm not finished!!! I am planning to run across America, coast to coast in August 2015 to raise more awareness for Brain injury. I found that as I ran across Kansas that there was not a lot of resources and rehabs available for brain injury survivors. I am looking for team members that will travel with me to help and support me on my Journey, can you be that person? Please continue to help me fund this journey. Please get in touch with me if you can help. Thank you.
I am a head injury survivor. In May of 1988, at the age of nine, I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle, and not wearing a helmet. Life as I knew it changed forever.
I was transferred to Children's Mercy Hospital where I was in a coma
for four days, and stayed for a total of three weeks. I then had
outpatient therapy for 3 months. I was diagnosed with a closed head
injury with damage to my frontal lobe.
Struggles in my life have
been ongoing as a result of my injury.
In 2007 I decided to
continue and persevere; refusing to become a victim of my situation.
At that time I changed from being a victim to a survivor.
I
joined the KC Track Club (Northland Runners) and have been running
every since.
That brings me to my upcoming goal. I have been
chosen to be the Honoree at the Amy Thomspon Run for Brain Injury
which supports the Brain Injury
Association of Kansas and Greater
Kansas City www.biaks.org It takes place on May 27th, 2013 at Loose
Park KCMO.
On September 21st 2013, I will start my journey
running 319 miles from Kansas City to St Louis. I am hoping to run
30-40 miles each day completing this run in 8-10 days. I am doing this
run to bring awareness to all other head injury survivors that to
never give up, and to support the Brain Injury Association of Kansas
and Greater Kansas City which has helped thousands of head injury
survivors.
I'm asking for your support and donations to help me
in my upcoming goal.
Any proceeds that are beyond the cost to
cover my expenses for my run will be donated to the Brain Injury
Association of Kansas and Greater Kansas City.
I hope that I can
count on you to help support my cause.
People just like you have raised $137,000,000+ for causes they and their friends care about.
