Hello everyone, back in September, 2025 I was diagnosed with Philadelphia negative B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This news wasn't just devastating, it was decapitating, and solely because this time it wasn't a stranger, but an old enemy who knows exactly where my scars are. Medical school, my social life, my dreams, my future, my life... all uncertain, all on hold. It's been extremely tough mentally and physically. I get this question often "what is chemotherapy like?" And honestly, it's like having a severe flu constantly but resting and taking medicine doesn't heal you. Mix that in with the isolation that follows chemotherapy and prednisone and you got the trifecta of unimaginable. But despite all of that, I am still trying to look forward and put a smile on my face every single day even when it feels impossible. However, lately things have been extremely hard. Unfortunately I got blindsided with a termination letter from anthem blue cross, my health insurance. I was on my mother's health plan however that ended due to her no longer working at her hospital. I am mid chemotherapy treatment and I need health insurance to continue receiving chemotherapy treatment, medications and mandatory procedures. The only option I have for coverage to continue weekly chemotherapy treatments is Cobra insurance which as you can imagine is extremely expensive. It covers up to six months of coverage which would be enough time to hopefully complete treatment and be in full remission or find other health coverage. I also have copayments and procedure/medical bills that total $17,000 and it's getting to be a lot on me. So I'm humbly reaching out to ask for any help, so i can continue receiving treatment, and have a little stress taken off of me. If you know anything about me, you know I hate asking for help, I'm usually the one doing the helping. But unfortunately I can't do this alone.
