HELP BILL HEAL AFTER EMERGENCY INTESTINAL SURGERY

About Me

My name is Bill, and I am a Public School teacher in Bermuda.
For years, I have dedicated my life to serving children—teaching, encouraging, and being a steady presence in their lives.

Today, I find myself in a very different position—back home in Bermuda, healing from emergency intestinal surgery, but still unable to work and without a salary.

What Happened

On October 26, I traveled to the Dominican Republic to support my wife, who suffers from a rare blood condition called Essential Thrombocythemia.
What was meant to be a short trip quickly turned into a life-threatening situation.

On October 29, I experienced severe abdominal pain that turned out to be a strangulated hernia.
I underwent emergency surgery on October 30, where doctors had to remove 150cm of my small intestine that had already become damaged.

I remained hospitalized for over two weeks, not allowed to eat or drink for 6 days.
On November 8, I required a second surgery due to internal complications.

The Financial Impact

During this time, I was unable to return to Bermuda or resume work.

My employer provides limited sick leave, and after exceeding those days, my salary was stopped, through no fault of my own.

Now, even though I am back in Bermuda and healing well, I am still not receiving income and am continuing my recovery.

Ongoing Expenses

I am still facing significant financial pressure, including:

• Medical and surgical costs
• Medications and follow-up care
• Recovery-related expenses
• Basic living costs while unable to work
• Monthly Rent

My Wife’s Support

While I went to care for my wife, she became the one caring for me—standing by my side through surgeries, recovery, and uncertainty.

Her strength and sacrifice have been a blessing through this entire journey.

Where I Am Now

• Back in Bermuda

• Healing and improving daily 

• Cleared to return to full work 

• Still without a steady income

My Goal: $8,000
