We were looking for a husky to rescue. Our daughter has wanted one since she was little but knowing they are high energy dogs, we waited until she showed she was ready for the responsibility. 
When I started approaching rescues I was having a hard time finding the right guy or girl. A friend asked her rescue friends and a woman told me about a Husky in a life or death situation. She sent me pictures and while totally unprepared I got in my car and drove an hour to pick him up. He stank, he’s 20 lbs under weight, covered in sores. So I loaded him into my car.

I shared this information in my neighborhood FB page because I had nothing for him and due to his condition I didn’t want him to share with my 2 dogs. Angie was moved and went and rescued his over bred mate, an American bull dog, named Luca. She decided in about 30 seconds that sweet Luca was her forever dog.

The rescue organization would not pay for their immediate vet treatment and We don’t want to risk losing him if they decide their vet care is too high or they are unadoptable.

Today was their first vet visit. 

They were both diagnosed with:

heart worms

whip worms

major fungal and yeast infection on his skin

infected skin/more minor for her.

He is deaf and his ears are infected. Hopefully the ear treatment brings back at least some hearing.

The heart worm treatment will cost at minimum $1000.00 each

He has swelling and a mass on his bottom. They were not able to properly exam it because he is in so much pain currently. 

he is 20 lbs underweight and she is about 40 lbs underweight. They are getting as much clean water and healthy food for the first time ever.

This was an unexpected cost for our families and we know we could relinquish them to a rescue. We love them already and feel like they picked us to be their family.
