Walter Shine, my dear, sweet husband has end stage 5 kidney disease/failure. The care, treatment and costs are extreme and involve much of our time each day. I am asking for help with the financial expenses. Thank you so much, I appreciate you and your support!
Walter Shine’s Health Challenge:
The medical treatment day to day care takes a lot of time and is very costly; plus will be required for the rest of his life. We have listed for him for a kidney transplant with UCSF! This usually takes 8-10 years to happen. Many patients die before receiving their transplant. As his wife I am his primary caregiver and I am reaching out to you for financial support.
Who Walter Is…
Walter is a loving Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great Grandfather, Entrepreneur, Speaker, Community Leader & Veteran. He advocates for families, communities and gives rise to new leaders with integrity.
Some Highlights of Walter’s Life:
Toastmaster President, and Founder of the Fatherhood Project in San Francisco to reunite Fathers with their children. He has been a spokesperson On Black Renaissance TV show on Channel 44 in San Francisco/Bay area. He also created a Foster Care Kinship Program for Black Foster Parents and produced Black History Month In San Rafael California. He received the Excellence in Leadership Award.
Debra Shine’s (Walter’s Wife) Challenge:
Walter’s dialysis treatment at home includes 10-12 hours throughout the night each day. This does not include his set up and tear down time. Also, with kidney failure he experiences extreme fatigue. In October 2020 I too was hospitalized and diagnosed with lymphedema and a white blood cells that caused allergic reactions (immune compromised) to all medications and treatments. My walking has been impaired. My daily treatment takes 3-5 hours each day. This is a life-long limitation for me. As Walter’s hobbled caregiver I support him with love, advocacy, ordering supplies, medication, meals and much more.
