Allan Grijaldo hasn't added a story.
Hello! Her name is Barbara Jane Chavez, was recently diagnosed with Anti NMDA Receptor Encephalitis. She is a nurse, a front liner, battling this covid with all of us.
She is a mother of three, diagnosed with a rare condition that is mostly often misdiagnosed as a psychiatric disorder. It is a type of brain inflammation caused by antibodies, (Auto-immune). Early symptoms may include fever, headache, feeling tired and often time agitated of confused. This is typically followed by psychosis which presents with false beliefs (delusions) and seeing or hearing things that others do not (Hallucinations) followed by catatonia (Muscular Rigidity and Mental Stupor), impaired attention, and memory loss. The next phase is unresponsiveness, which includes symptoms like the inability to speak, loss of voluntary movement, and sometimes abnormal muscle contractions that cause involuntary writhing movements.
She is currently admitted in the ICU undergoing multiple treatments. The disease process takes a long time, months or even years, but we are all hopeful that she will start responding to the treatment soon.
More so over, the breadwinner of the family, manifested decreased breathing that is why she is currently on endotracheal tube via a mechanical ventilator. Her heart is failing as well hence a pacemaker will be placed today and soon will be in sessions of plasma exchange.
We are knocking at the portals of your heart to kindly assists her on any kind of support you can extend.
PS: Her case is most likely similar with the Netflix movie "Brain on Fire".
