Hey friends!
As some of you know by following my tweets and stories, I have been trying to connect a mask supplier in China with my health care working friends here on the front lines of metro Detroit who are already seriously low on all PPE equipment while Michigan’s COVID-19 cases exponentially increase.
A local nurse raised money for supplies and then the hospital we were working with won’t accept KN95 NIOSH FDA certified masks (the China equivalent to N95.)
These 200 masks are already here , I’m picking them up tomorrow afternoon and will personally deliver them to midwives/nurses/doctors in metro Detroit who have babies on the way (and surely more mommas wanting home births soon! ) These midwives have been reusing and researching how to disinfect the few N95 masks they could find.
I know this is a tough time for everyone, I know so many of our lives have been upended and money is tight right now. If you can spare anything it will greatly be appreciated. If we go over our goal I will buy more masks and get them to my physician and nursing and tech friends. Masks are what I have access to and people need them, so let’s do this!!
I will post updates and photos so you know exactly where this $$ is going, I’ll have already paid for the first 200 out of my pocket so you know this is a very real campaign.
