Who am I?
My name is Madhav Sharma, 17 year old Indian boy, student, currently
giving my 12th grade final exams, passed 10th with a 94% (4.0/4.0 GPA)
from DAV Public School, Thane, Maharashtra, in 2017 and 11th with a
92% (3.7/4.0 GPA) from NSES and ShubhamRaje Jr. College, Thane,
Maharashtra, in 2018. Below are my grade sheets from 10th and 11th
grade.
Why am I here at FundRazr?
As a young boy I fancied opening up small things just to understand how the small pieces of machinery, when combined together, formed an integrated system, which could perform the task it was designed for.
The ever growing field of computer and technology has interested me since my childhood. Like most of the kids of my age, I too have always had a special interest for computers. Computer as a subject was introduced to me in my 2nd grade. It started with getting familiar with all the major components, moved on to using some basic applications, and slowly progressed thereafter. While I was in my 9th grade, during an information technology workshop, we were introduced to computer programming. I found it so interesting that I started learning ‘Visual Basic’. After about a month, I learnt to write codes for creating basic applications like a calculator and some small games. The satisfaction of creating something and later watching it work cannot be put in words.
I have always wanted to explore new things and this explorative attitude, has led to a constant learning process. ‘The power of research and delivering it for the benefit of the society is what makes me interested in technology’ are the word which keep me motivated to achieve my goal. I wish to invent and indulge into research throughout the course of my computer science studies. The universities in the US will help me realize my goals and also allow me to explore the wide gamut of diversity it offers. They would offer a wider canvas on which I can paint a lovely future for myself.
I have completed my application procedure ( SAT score: 1430 TOEFL score: 106 ) and already have admission offers from Arizona State University, University of Florida, Rutgers University NJ, Virginia Tech and a few others.
I have a scholarship of $10,000 ( from ASU) per annum through four years but I believe it won’t be enough. Under graduation in America is a privilege in India that not everybody can afford. Having gotten this opportunity I want to make the most of this by gaining experience along with the required knowledge, to excel in my field. Since I am taking an educational loan from my father, raising a part of this expenditure would lower the pressure on me and help me achieve my goals and living my own ‘American Dream’.
