Renee Herring hasn't added a story.

I am a desperate mother in need of assistance. My son, Arlandus Hood, has been served an unjust verdict by the Gwinnett County Court system for a case that has insufficient and inconsistent evidence.  I’m going to keep it real, I’m not one of those mothers that says he didn’t do it, I know he did do something- but it was not armed robbery and he does not deserve to serve 20 years behind bars for it. I believe he was in the wrong place-wrong time and with the wrong company

Arlandus was always book smart. In grade school, Arlandus constantly stayed on every list the schools had to offer, Honor Roll, Principal List, deans list, most gifted, most personality and he was even recognized nationally by being selected “Who's Who Among High School students". His high school excellence allowed him to be accepted to several prestigious colleges and Universities-Ohio State, Howard University, North Carolina and Duke University were all beckoning Arlandus' attendance.  He chose to attend Howard University in our nation's capital, where he had an opportunity to display his talents on the football field. Football was and always will be his passion, his escape, his ultimate dream. He dreamt of making the NFL, in which he was able to pursue that dream with several NFL tryouts and later playing professionally with Green Bay indoor arena football team. Football wasn't his only passion in athletics, he loved basketball, personal training, volleyball, soccer, you name it, if competition was involved, Arlandus was there. His athleticism and leadership ability allowed him to walk on as a freshman at Howard and make the team, earn a full scholarship and get All Conference honors throughout his four year attendance at Howard, where went on to graduate Cum Luade. He didn't keep his skills and sports knowledge to himself, Arlandus volunteered his time, at his alma matter South Gwinnett High School, to coach and mentor youth boys on the football field, teaching them to the game of football and life.

The grandson of a devout minister of God and pastor, Arlandus is God fearing Christian man that loves God. Arlandus is a member of Beaulah Church of Christ Holiness in Atlanta Georgia where he was called upon several times to speak to the youth in the church and participate in many community outreach events, sharing his wisdom and experience with other youth in the community. Pulling a young man or woman to the side to pick their brain was nothing new to Arlandus. He loved sharing the good news of Jesus and his personal life experiences to show a young person a new perspective on life.

When Arlandus was 15, tragedy struck a devastating blow. His father, Arlandus Hood Sr lost his battle with cancer, leaving a hole in Jr's life that will never be filled. His dad, a retired Navy Captain, instilled discipline, love, leadership, and guidance that reared Arlandus into a role model and beloved son. Losing his dad has had a lasting effect on Arlandus and sometimes caused him to lose his way in some areas, but mostly caused him to become a strong, independent man. This was shown when he became a dad himself to his two beautiful daughters, they are the light of his life. His oldest daughter gave Arlandus purpose, and he embraced that responsibility and they became best friends as soon as she could open her eyes. Unfortunately, his infant daughter was born while this ordeal had begun to unfold. His love for his daughters makes me proud to call him my son. He wrapped his passionate spirit for football, mentoring, academics, God into a burrito and serves it to her every time they are together.

As a mother that is medically retired, living on a fixed income, living and taking care of my parents that have signs of dementia and recent stroke there's nothing more than I would want to do than provide for my son in his desperate time of need. It hurts my heart to see that my son is helpless and I can’t help him. That same passion, independence and intelligence lead my son to represent himself in a trial that stacked against him. He studied law in College  while out on bail and represented himself as if he was Perry Mason reincarnated, however that was not enough.

Now, with our backs against the wall we are desperately attempting to raise a minimum of $10,000 for an appellant attorney’s.  Arlandus has a CHANCE for this case to be dismissed all he need is PROPER REPRESENTATION. I have in fact been referred to a top defense attorney, and like any attorney he needs a deposit before he can move forward. The attorney will have to work rather fast to file the motion for a retrial. The law in Georgia states for a re-trial, a request must be submitted within 30 days, and we have 20 days to submit funds to the attorney.  You’re timely assistance is greatly appreciated along with any amount of contribution, $1, $5, $100, $1,000, whatever God puts on your heart to give is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute please know that I understand and to keep me and my family in your prayers.  I am fighting for my sons life right now because a century of his life can be taken away right before our eyes.

(Please Share Arlandus have plenty of alumunis from HU as well as family on both sides of his family)

THANK YOU &

GOD BLESS YOU!
