Hi My name is Melissa Field and I live in Bournemouth Dorset and today I met this homeless man named Joel Watts and his stroy really touched me...

I just had to share this mans story...

He was a normal run of the mill guy who sadly was in a tragic car accident and was in intensive care and hospital for several months and during this process he lost everything and his home.

He could not afford to pay his rent and was evicted and is now on the streets. He went to the local BOURNEMOUTH council and they weren't able to help him until he has a residential address and so consequently he cant even claim benefits...

I made this video on the spot straight after I met this man today, his name is Joel Watts. He is originally from Northern Ireland and is from a BIG family one out 8 and he cant afford to go home.

He has two children here in bournemouth and would like to get an address, some food and get into work and get his life back and most of all be a dad to his children.

I am meeting him very soon to film him and let him share his own story and would love to help raise the funds to help this man get a roof over his head and get him the help he needs...

I will also call the council myself tomorrow and explore the options further...

But having been through the system myself in the past... it can be an absolute joke...

We all go about our daily lives and walk past so many people in need and most of us don't even think when we stop to buy a coffee or go for drinks with friends or buy the clothes we often don't need... that instead of spending this we could offer it to someone else in the world who is truly suffering and in need and completely change someones life...

We are all here in this world together and we shouldn't have to wait for a war or a terror attack to pull together and realise we are all fellow humans trying to find a way to live out our lives in peace and harmony...

If we all gave a little bit more... and had one less new toy or something for ourselves which we dont actually need...

The world would be such a better place...

I urge you to share the love and compassion and help at least this one man to get his life back... and housed or roof over his head before xmas.
