In 2010, our baby Ayra was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. She also had 3 holes in her heart.

We tried many things and have spent everything we have to the point we have to choose between getting the next meal or the next therapy session for Ayra.

We sent her to preschool to help her improve her social and mind development but we had to pull her out after 4 months. It was the saddest decision (because she needs to build social skills and develop her mind) but we had to, because everyday she would be placed in one corner of the room by her teachers to just sit and watch the other students take part in class activities. They do this because they do not know how to interact with her, engage her directly, and to get her to mingle with the other children. It is so sad to even catch a glimpse of this. Ayra would sometimes be pulled to the middle of the group of children next to the teacher only because we are standing at the window. But she would just stand there and watch the others while the teachers are busy coordinating the class. God knows what treatment she gets when we left. But day by day, her answer to our question "Do you like school?" becomes less and less enthusiastic and she started to develop a sad and stare-outside face, right then we just knew, she needs skilled care. She needs private special children's education.

In our country, private special education is costly and we have very little for the family.

We are a one-income family. Because we have very little we have to decide between getting meals or pay for one additional therapy session for Ayra. Everyday.

Please help us improve Ayra's development. We know she can learn and adapt if she has access to skilled practitioners. She needs early development to have any chance to be independent and be accepted into school and workplaces when her parents are no longer around.
