Hi there. My name is Gio Arcega. I'm trying to raise funds via crowdfunding in order to be able to provide needed audio-visual learning equipment to a classroom of smart and talented Grade 1 public school children in Dasmarinas, Cavite, Philippines.

The Special Science Elementary School (SSES) is an educational intervention program by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines. It is designed to develop children who have keen interest and exceptional abilities in Science and Mathematics. The SSES program is implemented in over 100 public schools from all over the Philippines, including the Dasmarinas II Central School, located in Dasmarinas City, in Cavite Province.

While the program description above sounds like a well thought of and well funded project by the Philippine government, in reality classrooms like this one that I am raising funds for are really significantly underequiped compared to Philippine private school standards, and even more so compared to Western school standards.

Parents, including myself, of the Grade 1 SSES class of of this current schoolyear have been pooling together our spare financial resources to improve the classroom facilities and features such as lighting (2 of 4 of the overhead lamps were previously not working), ventilation (1 of 2 of the fans were previously not working), electricals, garden (located outside the classroom), etc.

The class is still in need of audio-visual learning equipment - overhead projector, LED TV, DVD player, speakers - to greatly supplement, fast-track and improve the learning process inside the classroom. The simple audio equipment used in the video were just items collectively lent by some parents for use in that activity.

It is my hope that this crowdfunding effort will be the way by means this need can be addressed. Thank you in advance for all your kindness and support. =)
